Coach Dino's call of the year......

Postby Spence » Sat Sep 18, 2010 11:56 pm

The fake punt call in overtime against Notre Dame is one of the craziest calls I have ever seen. Where did that call come from? Dantonio came from the coach Tressel school of coaching by the numbers. The odds against that working, in overtime, aren't good.  Good call Coach.

Yeah I was stunned he called that play too. Dantonio is a 99% conservative coach, it's the 1% that catches everybody off guard

I guess, WOW. Dino must have went to the Bob Stoops coaching clinic over the summer.

I can't recall ever seeing anyone do that! Always try the 3 and move on to another OT.

It isn't until a play like that is being walked through in your mind that you really consider all the things that can go wrong w/ a simple pass play. But w/ a 46 yarded being no gimme by any stretch....I loved it! :D

If the officials had properly called the delay of game on Mich St, I wonder what the outcome would have been? If they had not tipped their hand, they may have still scored.

I just read on a message board that Michigan State's coach had a heart attack and is out indefinitely. Can anyone verify this?

It wasn't... Spence just typed in the wrong special teams formation; it was a fake field goal.

BUT, A big BUT, the coaches reasoning was correct. An inexperienced kicker at 47 yards made a FG questionable. Of course this is 24 hours later BUT, he made the correct call.
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

I'm not sure it was delay. The picture I saw showed 01 second on the play clock and 00 one the game clock. The ESPN clock that ran at the bottom did go to 00. I don't know which was actually right or if either was right. I thought the referee kept the official play clock.
