Spence did you see Brutus shuck off Rufus?

Postby GoBoilers » Mon Sep 20, 2010 4:09 pm

The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

Even the Ohio mascot can't tackle.

Yeah, I don't know what that was about, but Brutus didn't seem to be a

Straight from the article above:
....the guy in the suit, Brandon Hanning, told the Ohio student newspaper he tried out for the job with the explicit intention of assaulting Brutus this year – then dropped out after landing the gig. He's currently a student at nearby Hocking College. And he is not sorry at all: "It was the whole reason I tried out (to be Rufus) last year," he told The Post. "I knew we were going back to OSU this year, and I wanted to tackle Brutus."
"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).

Not only did he make a fool out of himself, but he also looked like a fool trying to tackle Brutus. It took him two good tries to even get it done. It is a good thing this Brutus was a guy. Sometimes Brutus is a girl, although, I don't think the gameday Brutus is ever a girl. If he did that to the wrong person he could have really hurt them. OU Athens held the record for the biggest party school in the nation for decades, guys like this guy, are probably just throwbacks to that era.

It appears that after being escorted out by security, the OU administration banned him from anything having to do with the school. Why he did it is still a mystery. He just says he waited a year to do it.

Yeah, not a lot of people outside of Ohio period. Still not many would go to the extreme this guy did. He even tried to punch him in the rocks at the end of the video.

But, I do. It is part of the fun. Still running out on the field and assaulting someone is a little over the line from where I sit.

Totally agree. Now if the two mascots were doing it as comedy, that is a different story, but for that both parties must be aware.

Coach Tressel on Brutus' health and status for this weeks game:

"Early in Jim Tressel's weekly press luncheon, the Ohio State head coach gave a prognosis he likely never expected would be necessary regarding the Buckeyes’ mascot.
“I saw Brutus over at the Block ‘O’ event last night and asked him if he was going to be ready for Saturday,” Tressel said. “He’s probable.”

His status was in jeopardy after a much-publicized altercation with the Ohio University mascot prior to Ohio State’s 43-7 defeat of the Bobcats last Saturday at Ohio Stadium. "
