Waste of money. I can't believe the AD approved this. With the state of the economy, how a state funded school got this approved is beyond me.

An anonymous donor donated the cost of the paint. There were 70 gallons of white grass paint, 280 gallons of water-based paint and 110 gallons of blue grass paint used. (Donovan? Were you behind this? LOL 8) )

Of course they painted real grass and not artificial turf, which is what they will find waiting for them at Bronco stadium. Last time I played there was a distinctive difference between trying to perform between the two. Brilliant Move by OSU. OMG!

Even Coach Petersen agrees...
"Obviously they imported the blue, but you better tell them it's blue turf not blue grass," Petersen jokingly said of OSU painting its field.

The anonymous donor should have given it to help someone. The color of the turf has nothing to do with anything. Boise State isn't a good team because they play on blue turf. Oregon State won't gain any advantage because someone painted the grass. That is the silliest thing I ever heard.

Agreed...

If OSU's "Blue Strategy" doesn't pay off for them then they will be the laughing stock of college football this week (College Game Week on ESPN) and maybe even the season. Maybe they did it for the publicity?

The "Look and Feel" just won't be the same....Ha...Silly, indeed. The "look" is amateurish and the "feel"? Well, the feel is not there....

On the other hand, if they do win then there will be a big boost in paint sales across the country -- hmmmmm, maybe this does have an economic benefit.

I think the fact that they are painting the turf already makes them a laughing stock. They would be better served watching tape of the players who play on that blue turf instead of the surface. No wonder that OSU has struggled the last few years.

The team that beat Loserville by a TD needs more than blue paint for this game.

When my son played soccer, his team was a little undersized up front but talented...opponents called the forwards "smurfs". Soooo, the smurfs dyed their hair blue and people statrted cheering for the "smurfs" by the state quarterfinal. The team lost in the final to a Miami team of hispanic kids...but they won over the state with their blue haired, small sized heroics.

But dying their hair blue didn't make them better.

It is a shame some grown men in Oregon can't figure that out.

That all that paint ought to gum up the mowers good when its time for a grass trim --- or, do you think they will try to remove it with paint remover? LOL

I don't know...this might be a waste of money, but it's smart for OSU to practice on the Blue. I wonder if their defense will play in Boise's blue as well??

I think this game MIGHT be closer than we think.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Don't think the blue practice field will help them...but we all do get used to our surroundings. I remember in college marching band that we would learn a show and have it down in our home stadium. Then we would march the show in a different location and many people (including myself sometimes) would feel lost. Almost have to relearn the show. But painting a field blue will not help this...it's about what you get used to seeing peripherally (the things you don't realize you are seeing and the things your brain are associating with the movements you are making). Not sure if any of that makes any sense.
"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).

Boise's practice field is green grass. It's not the corniest thing I have ever heard of, but certainly on some list. On the other hand, how would you like to be in the shadow of University of Oregon with all of their pecuniary extravagance. Take so little to amuse Oregonians. Fluiddude, where are you?
