Florida isn't on top of this list.

Re: States feeding the NFL
All I can say is that I go to high school football games every friday in Southern CA and I see a lot of terrible football. In 6 years I have only seen 1 player that has gone on to play Div I college football and he did not make it past his freshman year at UCLA. These kids must be from somewhere other than Orange County....at least the schools that I watch. (My wife is an assistant principal so I go to all the games for her school....their conference is just down right terrible...maybe I need to branch out a little and watch some of these future NFL players).
"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).

It isn't surprising that California has the most. They are the biggest state of the top five at around 38 million, followed by Texas at around 24 million, then Florida at 16 million, then Ohio at around 11 million.......see a pattern here.

If you want to look at NFL players per capita....nobody comes anywhere near close to American Samoa.

Yeah, they are king. Actually Florida is probably second per capita.

The big per capita # is NY! Way down there.

I am not at all surprised by the list... Boise State hits those states regularly...
Win or Lose - IT'S HOW YOU HYPE THE OUTCOME! BCS logic: When teams in the AQ conferences lose, it shows how tough those conferences are; when teams in non-AQ conferences lose, it is weakness.

So does everybody else....

This surprises me as well..I figured Florida would be at the top of the list followed by Texas.
I'm glad Georgia rounded out the Top 5, too bad we can't win any games at the college level...too bad none of those teams has won a NCG.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Re: States feeding the NFL
California is double the size of Florida in population. I think in total numbers they will probably always be #1. It is surprising that Texas and Florida are so close. I would have expected Texas to be ahead of Florida by more.

I played with a guy who went on to D1 and against a guy who play several years in the NFL. I also played with a guy who's kid plays in the NFL right now.

Yeah, the guy I played against ended all thought I ever had of playing college football.
I still remember the hit.

I went to the restroom at a restaurant in Portland once and only Clyde Drexler and myself were in there. He did not need to stand as close to the plate as I did.
