I think we forget anew again every year! Something about the whole process and us remembering the teams as imprinted in our minds when last we saw them and even a few weeks back. The early season is topsy-turvy and awkward and thereby, I think, just doesn't stick well.
Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

I agree CFB....and I think there is a continuing difference in College Football. We use to just worry about conference games and who would win the conference. If you won you might get to go to a big bowl game if you were from a big conference.....so games were won or lost....no SOS, KGB, CIA stuff....just play the game...have a good time....and wait until next week...This lunacy of a National Champion has altered it all.....and not for the better, IMO...which is not humble. :!:

The weekly comparison of teams on a national scale isn't really new. The AP and UPI have been doing that for a lifetime.

But. it has now turned into a national obsession.
“If short hair and good manners won football games, Army and Navy would play for the national championship every year.”

I think you are spot on. Since we have gone down the path of trying to determine a National Champion on the field instead of voting, this will continue. What really stirs the pot, is the teams to get an opportunity to win that National Championship are only 2, and determined by voting. Therefore the SOS, KGB and CIA stuff come into play.

We're only five weeks in and we've seen some season making or breaking games already. I think last year we had this many undefeated teams in the ninth or tenth week. We've already seen a ton of big match ups early in the year, and this weekend had two more top ten match ups and several internal top 25 match ups. The season seems poised to leave most questions on the field this year.

AND

we still have:

Auburn, Alabama, and LSU will answer it on the field.

Boise St. and Nevada will play for it.

Ohio St., Michigan, Michigan St. play each other.

Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St and there can be only 1.

Arizona and Oregon play later in the season.

And TCU plays Utah.

So all our undefeated teams in the top 25 have to play another undefeated in the top 25 so the season is far from done. There are no totally easy roads this year, some easier than others, but none a simple waltz. Everybody has to play somebody close in talent.

EDITED: I checked and the number of undefeated are about the same maybe a couple more, but I think we have more answers to be left on the field than last year. Just on who plays who there can't be more than 6, and thats just from who plays who.

This is the first time in a long time, that I've believed a Pac-10 team should be in the NCG.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Win or Lose - IT'S HOW YOU HYPE THE OUTCOME! BCS logic: When teams in the AQ conferences lose, it shows how tough those conferences are; when teams in non-AQ conferences lose, it is weakness.

Nevada is not the team Boise needs to look out for....Nevada is good and well could win...but there are no secrets between those two teams and I think on an equal day, Boise wins...there is however, a spoiler lurking in the bushes.

Boise has been working on their SOS. Boise got the red shirt team to agree to play them on their home field. They refused to travel to Boise.
