They have had trial in Seattle for a couple of years. Not all that successful. They tried ice cream too and that bombed. Nothing worse than a UW fan slurping down Starbucks, pretending some endowment of omniscience.

You know..we spend a lot of time down here in Florida discussing Seattle, Starbucks, and the omniscience of Washington fans.

Now Cafe Con Leche? A little cuban bread to dip in it, and we're talking. In the later morning a little demitasse of cuban coffee is like a kick start to this old shovelhead heart of mine.

I am a coffee freak. Most southern Hillbillies (Charleston, Huntington) will drink about anything but I am picky. My home brew takes about 15 to 20 minutes to make.

8 heaping tablespoons of coffee
(I prefer a blend, the only "broadband" coffee I will use is Folgers Colombian, and then I add some Seattle I grind, and I prefer to add some Starbuck's Verona)
Add 4 cups of water to the maker.
1 pass
Re-pour into basket and let steep 5 minutes (have to have stop-serve)
Slow Stir coffee in basket
Steep another 5 minutes
Then let her flow
Allow to stand in carafe 2 to 3 minutes.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of Cremora (to reduce acidity)
Pour about 1/4 cup of Half n' Half into seal-able container
Shake gently
Run under warm tap water
Shake more thoroughly
Run under warm tap water
...running under water until container is about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than room temp.

Add 1.75 tablespoons white sugar and 1.75 tablespoons of brown sugar.

Makes 1 16oz Serving

-- The problem with this, I have such an acquired taste that Starbucks is the only place I can find that has coffee that doesn't taste like water. But I have to add a couple of shots of Espresso to a Venti just to get it to minimal effective potency. (I hope to get a 4 cup coffee maker set-up for the car for my next trip...likely a Thanksgiving trip to Almost Heaven.

Hillbillies are pretty cheap brother. Maybe, the Morgantown flavor will pack the house.

BTW, a really good cup of brew can stand about a half shot of sweet and mild liqueur. (Frangelica is nice...and Bailey's is an old faithful.)

If they want this to succeed they should differentiate certain store's and call them Starbuck's Evening Shade or something. As the environment will be different in the end of all ends I would think.

I haven't had Jack Daniels in 37 years. And I still remember how much I do not like this Tennessee Whisky. Give me a bourbon.

I guess it depends on who makes it. I have some that is very smooth. I can drink Bourbon, but I would rather have Crown. I, too, don't like Tennessee Whiskey or Scotch. Even "good" scotch just doesn't do much for me. I'm not a huge drinker. I drink a beer or two while I play golf. Sip on something smooth when I get home. I'm not much for mixing so it has to be smooth.

Fixed or not....I have never been able to afford my vices.

My wife spends lots on wine - I don't see the attraction. She drinks a glass every day. Rarely two, because she can't "drink". We get different micro brews from around the world and I like some of those. Sometimes I would rather have a regular mass produced domestic out of St. Louis.

I really like Tenn Whiskey, Gentleman Jack I'll always take. But some blended are pretty good too. A bourbon is really good as well. And I have had some dangerously, ridiculously smooth White Lightning.

Yep. I think Starbucks is ridiculous, especially with their prices...but the way they use words like "Venti"..."Grande"..to describe sizes of drinks is incredibly smug and pretentious.

Pretentious is all over the joint, employees and most the customers. But much like the rest of the world, while I am there I feel very safe and secure. I still find it hard to imagine you can get that many soft people in one spot?!?!?
