me and a buddy made a still as a science project in high school. Not a good idea in hindsight. We got in lots of trouble when we inveiled it.

See...I hate that...you had to learn something, there is a science to it. People have always been way to uptight! And to me this is a simple one, if you can't make your own liquor...then are the children free?

Back then the prinicpal just game me a refresher with the "board" of education and let me know he wasn't amused. When I was older, though, at my golf club he would still tell the story - so he was amused and I still had a three day butt ache.

It did work, but we didn't drink what we made - no desire to test it out and hope we didn't die. My dad wasn't amused at all, although it would have been something he would have done had he thought of it. I was several weeks working his disappointment off. If he was even the slightest bit amused he never let me know about it.

No, the school took care of my project. It didn't make it home. My teacher thought we were distilling water when she helped get supplies. It really worked, we made alcohol, we were just afraid to drink it. It probably would have killed us.

No. If she helped you do it to distill water, I'm pretty sure you were safe from introducing toxins from the components. The most you could have done was get water, sugars, and unwanted particulates. Me and my brother have talked about building one for a long time. My 2 brothers and I are talking about buying a farm. I'd lake to play with that, making whiskey...and beer. One brother is Chemical Engineer and the other loves to drink, so I wouldn't have to ask for help!
