No football topic or team is unwanted here. It is just most of us have weighed in on several subjects including this one to the point where everyone knows our positions well. Doesn't mean we won't continue the discussion, just that most aren't changing their minds.

'Unwanted' is the wrong word. I personally prefer we move on to another topic, at least until later because it's kind of beating a dead horse and like Spence said, nobody has or will budge on any points. You should have been here after the first two weeks where we were still talking about Boise State constantly

My only point is, there are 119 other teams, all with interesting storylines

Not really 119 interesting teams. I think that if one middie goes it should be Boise State. TCU can't go in front of TCU IMO.

If Boise State is in the NCG, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I don't want Boise State and TCU - we have seen that game and it doesn't prove anything. Boise State and Oklahoma, Oregon, Iowa, or Alabama would all be alright with me. I am interested in a Boise State matchup with the top major whoever it is.

I think it is time to find out and end the argument between the white lines.

I think it's a self-perpetuating cycle anyway. Boise State can't really recruit against the likes of UCLA, USC, and Texas because of their non-BCS status and then they get criticized for not having the roster capable of "lasting" in a BCS conference. If they played in a BCS conference they would probably be better off. Or better yet, eradicate the artificial barriers to entry of being in a "BCS conference."

but,
2011 Rose Bowl
Boise St. vs. ______ ?

Michigan has the 2nd most appearances...that would be an historic match-up...Wisconsin has a solid program...not sure about Michigan St., but Ohio St. would also be classic...especially since they jumped BS already to #1 this season...otherwise Iowa, Northwestern, or whoever else still has a chance...

Well they'll probably wind up facing Ohio State if they don't end up in the title game. Or it's possible that if Michigan State wins the conference, then they'd face MSU.

chooseaspy wrote:Yes...TCU doesn't look like they are positioned to make the BCS title game...actually, seeing Boise St. in the Rose Bowl, vs. the best of the Big 10, might be more interesting than the BCS game...the Rose Bowl has been utterly dominated by USC in its history, and it could make a great story-line, for the 'changing of the guard".

As the season progresses, and more weight is given to later-season wins, TCU could jump Boise St....has anyone seen projections for where the two would end up (computer rankings) if both are un-defeated?

I don't think the Rose is good. Boise State has been there done that with a BCS team. I want to see them in the big game.

Utah isn't good enough this year. TCU is in line behind Boise State and I don't think two middies in the NCG proves anything. It doesn't help either school's perception nationally.

No, two of them may make it - no way three does. Too many majors with bigtime drawing power to pick from - waiting on the sidelines.

I don't get the Utah thing...I still haven't seen them this year. That is very unusual for a team ranked so high????

Just thank the Mountain West TV contract for that. They are either on Versus, The Mtn., or CBS College Sports. Other than that, nowhere to be found

Maybe I need to look harder...but I am in San Antonio. I saw them a couple of times the last time they were peaking.

Maybe Nevada, Navy, UTEP, Troy? (obviously, most any candidate would have to win-out the remainder of the season, aside from already un-defeateds).

Nevada would have had to have beaten Boise St to stay undefeated, had they not just lost to Hawaii.

Utah & TCU have to play each other on November 6th, in Salt Lake City, so that will take one of them out of the picture.

Navy lost to Maryland, and I don't think Troy will beat the Gamecocks in South Carolina, on November 20th.

The choices will fall between the winner of TCU/Utah & Boise St.

Right now, with all of the Media support... it'll be Boise st.
