Overall good poll. I do think TCU is about 5 spots too high....that stands out to me. I also believe Missouri, Michigan State, and OK State are undervalued. And having Virg Tech and Nevada in the top 25 is way too high...I mean how can Virg Tech be one of the top 25 teams after losing to a FCS team (if they are we need to find a spot for James Madison).

VT isn't the same team that lost to JM. If you buy what you are selling, than Boise, who was lucky to scrape by VT, is vastly overrated since VT in the next game was beaten by JM.

MIzzou is the sleeper.

That is all.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

If that is the case, then we need to find a spot for New Hampshire. They beat James Madison also. If Texas is ranked, then we need to rank UCLA. If South Carolina is ranked, then shouldn't Kentucky be there also?

I agree. I ranked Virginia Tech as a cautious #25 in my poll. They have won 5 straight games and have looked pretty impressive. They beat Boston College and NC State and a decent ECU team, while they annihilated Wake Forest last week (not a difficult task, but it was a good game for the Hokies). I think putting a team with as much talent as Va Tech at 25 is due punishment for losing to an FCS school

It's the same thing that happened to Michigan in 07. Sure they lost to Appalachian State, but there was plenty of time to turn things around and get better, and that they did.

I don't actually think James Madison should be ranked. I was trying to make a point. By pointing out that New Hampshire beat James Madison that just shows how bad of a loss that was for Virginia Tech...it should have never happened. So, Boise's win against Virg Tech does not look that great. And comparing UCLA and Kentucky to James Madison is just silly talk.

Billybud...I do think Boise is ranked too high. I have them at #8 in my poll. It's all opinion and that's mine...for what it's worth (not much actually).

I have said it before. I will say it again. VT is an excellent team and underrated because of two key mistakes the first two games of the season.

The first of the two mistakes was to underestimate BSU. They were expecting a good game but not expecting to get manhandled and humbled in front of their largely home crowd. It was a very physical game and and they really were not prepared for the smurfs to be that physical and to play that smart.

The second mistake was related to the first. They were so overconfident prior to the BSU game that they allowed the JM game to be scheduled a mere five days after the BSU game. Very critical mistake. Once agan they were manhandled cuz they underestimated their foe and they were still recovering from the physical hurt and and the emotional shock of that BSU game. Every coach from every school that BSU played this year admits the Broncos are among the best of the best.

This, I feel, humbled VT for the good of their season. Because they now know they are vulnerable they have concentrated on the baiscs and their game and their attitude and they learned from their mistakes. I could be wrong but I feel those lessons from the first two games will allow them to win out their season. Better to be humbled then than now.

Don't discount VT yet. The season is not over.
