Re: FSU -v- NC St.
Yikes!
I'm not sure what to make of this...
NC State certainly had things flowing in the right direction early, only to cough it up, and spoil what could have put severe pressure on the `Noles...
FSU got it together, ran up the score in the second quarter on `em...
The Wolfpack seized all the momentum coming into the 3rd quarter, and kept the heat on...
FSU scores a field goal, giving them the advantage, but left O'Brien with too much time on his hands, so NC State goes for the endzone, scores the touchdown on 4th & goal from the 4...
Then fsu with all the momentum, 3 time outs, deep inside the redzone; blows a time out because ponder was shaken up... then he fumbles the ball...
FSU may or may not be the better team here... but, they only scored 3 points in the second half...
In the end, it doesn't matter whose at fault for the fumble... just who comes out of the pile with the ball.

Oh, that is true. One guy has never lost a game. If Florida State would have scored another TD earlier it wouldn't have been an issue. Still a sucky way to lose a game.

I used to think that too, then I saw Jamarcus jaloose many jagame all by his jalonesome. Ja Raiders with Jaclown couldn't do janothing. Now that he is jagone, 59pts in 3 quarters!

Jamarcus spent all of his time drinking cough syrup by the bucket, eating fast food, and never caring if he played football. He got fat, high, and rich. The Raiders are a decent team without him. Now they are a threat to throw the ball and McFadden is getting his yards. With Jamarcus they would stack the box to stop McFadden because they knew Jamarcus could not beat them with his arm or legs. He may be the worst #1 pick ever in the NFL draft.

So, how many of those all-star type qb draft picks who held out for more $$$ before signing panned out.?.
What are Quinn & Leinart upto these days ... anyone?

....Well...
A defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.
On your opponents 4 yard line, ready to go in gor the winning score in the final minute is no time to drop the ball. Should have been a W.

It just goes to show you, as I have been espousing, that in a series of games in which the teams are close, that it only takes a bad call, a dropped pass, or a fumble to lose the game.

Re: FSU -v- NC St.
Would that it had been a New Mexico State instead of a dangerous NC State..sigh.
Really...it was a called back TD for a hold, it was a dropped pass that killed a drive, it was an arm not moving forward enough to overrule a fumble call, it was the inexplicable defensive strategy that left the center of the field completely deserted with a running QB licking his chops....it was luck.
Yep...FSU should have won this game. Bad things happened in a combination that hurt. But when a team like NC State isn't a team that is 35 points away from you in talent, that is all that it takes.

Re: FSU -v- NC St.
That is one of the worst ways to ever lose a game. There was no question that Florida State would have scored. It really wasn't even what you call a mistake. Just two players trying to execute their job --- not in sync. Ponder may take it on his shoulders, but he really didn't have any blame here.

Duly noted and logged. Tough loss...and you are right...mistakes on a soft schedule never really affect outcome, on a tight schedule...so costly.

NC State is streaky, but they have skill. FSU is clearly much better, could have won that game by 4 TD's if things go a few inches different on the few things you point out. And you didn't even complain about the footing that just killed FSU at the start. (And reappeared a bit in the 3rd.)

hmmm... and the "hmmmm's have it.
Any team, let alone an AQ team, that would have lost a game to New Mexico State in that same manner would be...would be...
But I do understand what you are saying. Its not fair when you have such a good team playing week in and week out with such tough competition to be left out of the equation in the final outcome because some other team doesn't play as tough of foes. Its like T-ball league where no scores are kept and there are no winners or losers.
I really was rooting for FS ... The timing and placement of that fumble was most unfortunate. I wonder how the computers will weight and treat that kind of circumstance?
Win or Lose - IT'S HOW YOU HYPE THE OUTCOME! BCS logic: When teams in the AQ conferences lose, it shows how tough those conferences are; when teams in non-AQ conferences lose, it is weakness.
