I have seen a similar college play where the QB calmly starts walking towards the sideline with the ball as if a timeout has been called while the team stands and lounges...and then pulls up and thows it to a wide open streaking WR.

Yea, I have seen a fake punt, similar to what you described; where the punter looks to the sideline, as if the coach is trying to change something in the play call, then a quick pass to a wide open receiver who nonchalantly strolls up the sideline, then takes off running with the ball.

I just thought it was funny how the kid in this video, walks leisurely through the middle of the defensive line, taking a few more steps, then burns the D secondary ... now, that is a trick play.
