Bowl Eligible

Postby Brian Roastbeef » Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:12 pm

Syracuse is. Just sayin'

Maybe a little out of place to make a thread just for this, but after five seasons in the wilderness, I think it is worth its own thread. Our long city-wide football nightmare is over.

Okay okay, I suppose some avenue for real discussion is necessary, so how about this... Marrone has stated that this game was particularly significant as he intends to reinstate the extensive recruiting efforts in NJ that had fallen by the wayside during the Robinson era. The strong chance of heading to the Pinstripe bowl should give Marrone another boost in those efforts as well. That being the case, then does this mean we may be seeing a return to the old order of things, with not just Syracuse becoming a Big East contender, but also a possible downfall for Rutgers as they now face greater competition for their best talent? There are only so many New Jerseyites to go around, and Pitt will still be raiding out there as well.

Congrats!

And BTW, WVU has gotten many guys out of New York and New Jersey.

The Big East Championship is a shoot out..with Pitt, WVU, and Syracuse all still players. If it ends up a three way tie and the highest BCS gets the nod, I like WVU's chances for that spot.

Right now I just want to see them play up to their ability. Linch-pinned on the offensive coordination. When I think of could they win the thing...my mind goes to the manner in which they lost 3 games...not pleasant memories.

But I am loving the D! That 3-3-5 has impressed me much more than I ever thougth it could when they rolled that scheme out! Better than the "Where you going Bradford?" defense!

It is so much easier to have a good defense than to put together a good offense and yet so many coaches are obsessed with the offensive side of the ball.

I hate to be a downer, but whoever wins the conference out of those three teams (plus USF or UConn) would get their rears handed to them in the Fiesta Bowl

If I'm in the Big East title race, I'd almost prefer not to get a bid to the BCS this season
