Georgia vs Boise 2011
The word is that Georgia and Boise will kick off the 2011 football schedule by playing in the Georgia Dome in 2011. The rumor is that Ole Miss has backed out of their game with Boise next season. Donavon or Silverfox can you verify these stories?

Boise State isn't ducking people.

Only ducked Nebraska

They didn't duck Nebraska, you could argue they tried to hold them up, but they were willing to play.

No...they wouldn't...not on a one for two deal.
They wanted a home and home or nothing. I feel that Boise, with it's horrible schedule, needs to do what it takes. And ducking Nebraska wasn't doing it.

The article I read said it was going to be a three game deal home and home and one at a neutral site the BSU would get paid 1.4 million and Nebraska bulked at paying out the cash.

All of it happened...Boise just wasn't going to play Nebraska and made demands that they knew that Nebraska would refuse....Boise wanted no part of the Huskers.

I read all of this before. None of it says Boise State wouldn't or didn't want the game. It is what you make of it. It seems to me that Boise State's AD may have a little over inflated idea of how much leverage he wields, that is all I see.

I think Bleymeir's ego is large. Hard to argue he has taken the program a long way. As far as the Nebraska deal...not sure why a fan from the ACC with it's rich heritage and long standing elitism, doing everything right, never wavering from right to left, standing tall in every situation and never in the heat of battle choosing neutrality, gives a dang about what Boise does or doesn't do. Boise put their offer on the table, Nebraska countered and Boise said no. No school is under any obligation to say yes. So they just play the Fresno States on Friday nights and...what was the score?... as irrelevant as scores are on this board.
Need a new horse carcass...not much left of this one to beat. Horse carcass...that would be a bronco.

Re: Georgia vs Boise 2011
Boise beat an ok team tonight. Fresno is a team that the SEC bottom feeder this year, Ole Miss, beat by 3 TD's. Ole Miss has 4 wins: Tulane, Fresno State, Kentucky, and Louisiana Lafayette (and terrible losses to FCS Jacksonville State, and usual SEC bottom feeder Vanderbilt).
Listen...Boise is a very good team...but I am not buying the ESPN hype that they are elite. They again hyped up a game to try and give legitimacy to Boise's weak schedule. Boise will again play an average Nevada team and ESPN will bill it as the game of the century.
And I guess by pointing this out I am again beating a dead horse. What else is a dead horse good for though?
Also, back on topic, I do look forward to the Boise vs Georgia game next year.

Re: Georgia vs Boise 2011
Fresno definitely has had some struggles this year. They are a pretty mediocre team, but their offense had been coming along strong in the past two weeks. Boise just absolutely manhandled them on defense. It was pretty impressive, but again you have to remember the context; it wasn't your typical Fresno State team (at least from the earlier half of this decade).
I just don't understand why the default is "Boise State isn't good enough" when I think it should be "maybe we don't know how good Boise State is." I hear people all of the time saying that the Broncos couldn't even beat a team like Michigan State (who Boise State will open up against in 2012 in East Lansing and has set up future games with Sparty). At least be agnostic about it. But these are the same people who, if Boise State loses a virtual road game in a difficult environment like many other teams very well could against Georgia next season, would be gleeful about Boise State losing, for whatever reason. Maybe because it conforms to their prejudice, but I don't know why.
When you're comparing Oregon to a Boise State (who passes the eye test for most people), the question isn't whether they would go 11-1 on Oregon's schedule, the question would be "would they go 10-2 or worse" if you're going to definitively give Oregon the nod. I say Oregon gets the nod if they go undefeated, but in an incredibly weak Pac-10 this season, I don't see why an 11-1 Oregon team has a better resume than Boise State does. Obviously they would have played better teams and it's conceivable that the Broncos wouldn't make it through that unscathed, but again, if you have 11-1 Oregon vs. 12-0 Boise, it's a discussion, it's not automatic.

Re: Georgia vs Boise 2011
I have always said that Boise is good...but has the advantage of playing from the ladies tees.
It's not "being good" that is the problem...it's the not playing anybody week to week. Boise plays from the red tees while other teams in the race are playing from the blue tees.
It's not being good...it's having an enormous advantage. It's playing Fresno State not Alabama.
And one looks good from the red tees...even Mississippi could score 55 on Fresno and look like a decent team. But put 'em on the blue tees...

And Boise, from the ladies tees....hit them straight and down the center, while hooks and slices and mulligans permeate those from the Blue Tees......
