WAC refs bad too
Boise clearly fumbles and Nevada recovered. Boise gets ball.

Re: WAC refs bad too
There were a couple that I thought the ref's blew in Boise's favor ... however, that bad pass interference call that gave Nevada good field position + kept their drive alive ... well, that was the scoring series that got the Wolfpack the momentum.
This was one of the best games I've seen all year ... too bad I had to stay up so darned late to catch the end of it ... wait a second, you mean it's only 2:20ish ... I guess that's not all that late.

How about the kick-catch interference they called on Boise? He was obviously capable of catching the ball and he had room, there's no rule that says you can't slam into the player in stride if you time it correctly. It was his fault for not calling a fair catch. That should have been Boise State football.

Re: WAC refs bad too
The Kick Catch Interference (KCI) has been one of the more subjective calls since the halo rule was removed.
I read on a web page that college officials use to talk among themselves and educate on rules...some interesting observations following a controversial call in the Auburn-Florida game last year.
Assorted observations:"This call (KCI) has been turned it into one the most subjective in NCAA football, which is strange considering the change was allegedly made in the interest of player safety. There are 2 specific mentions of kick receivers as defenseless players in the POE's. There is even a "when in question" on KCI. Seems to me the Committee wants us to err on the side of safety and caution. The AR's even make clear you do not need to have contact to have KCI. Seems like if there IS contact, it should be an even easier call. Until I get downgraded or instructions from supervisor to do otherwise, I am erring on the side of making the call."
"The way I've been taught to handle this is to give the receiver time to make a football related move after he cathes the ball. I'm not sure he even has time to look for the block in that video. Good flag IMO"
"By referring to the foul as "kick catch interference" as the SEC Ref announced on the video, we reinforce the misconception that if there is a catch there can be no foul."
"I think that's a pretty clear cut case of KCI. Two team A players crowding the receiver (ie. impeding his ability to make the catch) before the ball gets there and instantly tackling him."
"I think there are two things to watch in this video. The first is the 'timing" and the second is the "position". Protect the defensless player with the timing issue and allow him to make the catch with the arms extended. I recall guidance on the position of the kicking team player which says the receiver must be given the opportunity to extend his arms to secure the ball. In this case the "timing" and "position" rules would warrant a flag. IMHO"

LOL...you know, here in the south we have long memories about officiating.
Every Nole, even those who were decades from being yet born, knows of the robbery at Florida Field in 1967 when Lane Fenners winning last second catch in the end zone was called out of bounds. The pictures of the catch and videos are still part of the FSU-Florida lore.
From the Tampa paper...
"The official then, Doug Moseley, said he was hounded for the rest of his time by angry Seminoles, by mail, by phone. There was no e-mail at the time.
This, calmer observers on both sides, will declare was payback. The official who made that bad call in 1967 was battered all of his years by angry Seminoles for the Lane Fenner call."

Re: WAC refs bad too
Officials in the WAC are no better nor worse than anywhere else. Officiating has become an impossible job. Video from 57 angles, replay ad nauseum. The game was lost because Boise's defensive line was beat when it counted throughout the whole game. Nevada was played well.

Re: WAC refs bad too
The players get bigger, stronger and faster. The refs get fatter and older. Pretty simple, then as Donovan said showing all the replays from different angles, makes us more aware of the mistakes.
