They were just talking about this on Rivals Radio and how this sucks for Boise. They thought they were going get more competion in the MWC but Utah is gone, BYU is gone and now TCU is gone so they've essentially joined a new version of the WAC.

Tells you something about Boise State that everyone in the MWC is running from them.

Now..surly ole BB will have a new mantra.
"quit whining Boise...after all TCU joined a conference half way across the country. You too could be playing in Connecticut and Pittsburgh."

Sorry, but to me, the geographics just are crazy. I guess though, that if you have to board a plane to play a conference game, it doesn't matter whether it is 2000 miles or 400 miles.
But what do the track, baseball, volleyball, etc teams do? Usually they don't fly everywhere.

Yeah, it does. The difference between 40-45 minutes and 3 and a half hours. Who wants to sit on a plane for 3 and a half hours every two weeks? I also see the travel costs being out of control. It will make recruiting harder because parents aren't going to be able to see their kids play as much having to fly halfway across the country to play so they will encourage them to go somewhere else. I see lots of problems for TCU here, not the least of which is that the B-East could lose their AQ status anyway.

I am with all of that.....nuts...this is so much instant gratification......I keep thinking there will be one school that will stand up and say..enough is enough...but they are falling like a Weyerhaeuser forest with two saws in each loggers hand.

Time to get it over with and have the 4 super conferences with 16 teams each,
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

Boise is farther away from Fort Worth than Morgantown is, but imagine having to go to Storrs, Connecticut for a single volleyball game or something (1,500+ miles)
It's easy to think of the East Coast as being lightyears away from the heart of Texas, but it's pretty much the same thing as Texas/Oklahoma to the Pac-12. The Rocky Mountains and the Western U.S. is pretty expansive, geographically-wise. I think what they should have done is joined the Big East for football and then played in the Southland or the WAC for other sports. That gives off the impression of being a program that's not big enough to fit in anywhere though, and I doubt TCU wanted to do that. But remember, they did share the same conference as Cincinnati, Louisville, and USF when they were all C-USA members and TCU's program managed.

Can't play WAC in other sports unless you also play football there.

I agree, this makes no sense to me from the travel standpoint.
After a while, you have to ask yourself...how much traveling is too much, and when is there time for learning anything. This is still called school, right?
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

The travel has to be tough and while I don't the flying accommodations I would want tutors flying with the team so the time isn't as wasteful.
And I have to think some sports could disappear at TCU. Don't recall all of the rules there, but I am thinking if you drop Men's Lacrosse you can drop Women's...same for Volleyball and others I think. As good of an excuse as any to drop the Welfare Sports programs if you ask me.

It wouldn't be a real big deal to me if the BE lost its AQ status...not now. The MWC won't pick it up, no conference will. If they add 3 more teams the BE gets a playoff. So they then have to adjust a bit and not play an FCS school and do all they can to add a strong OOC game. Playing your way in is more than do-able then. Then when you consider the Big 10 and PAC-12 having a CC game, and it being likely that the Big 12 will grab more teams and do the same I only see Boise St (not counting the ND thing) as the only challenger for open spots. The BE champ has to out resume the 2nd and 3rd contenders from the AQ Conferences.

Good point there. Usually the Big East has a team that is ranked fairly high, this year was just an aberration that came at a bad time. I'm not buying the "MWC > Big East" hype at all. If the Big East didn't have a berth, people would use USF's win over Miami as evidence that the conference was strong and would sympathize with Syracuse almost beating Boston College. You can't tell me that New Mexico, Wyoming, and Colorado State add anything to the MWC right now. People like the top of the MWC right now, but forget about the bottom fairly easily. I think this is the closest it has been in years with the Big East not having a hallmark team, but I still take the Big East top-to-bottom.
