Legends and Leaders?

Postby Eric » Mon Dec 13, 2010 3:37 pm

Huh? The new names for the Big 10 divisions are the Legends and Leaders divisions. Hmmm. Sounds a little presumptuous to me

Obviously what I would have done is just geographically separated the teams into East and West. Each division would get three powerhouse programs (East: Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan / West: Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska). The East division would have Purdue, Indiana, and Michigan State with the West getting Minnesota, Northwestern, and Illinois. Seems pretty balanced to me. Not to mention separating Ohio State and Michigan is just nuts. That's like putting Alabama and Auburn in separate divisions or Oklahoma and Texas in separate divisions.

You have to be kidding me! Legends Division and the Leaders Division.

I guess the Big Ten Standings can't have a leader board because the leader of the Legends isn't a leader of the Leaders.

Leaders and Legends...Aren't those the two of the meeting room names at the Tampa Airport Hyatt?

Ugh...looked at the new Big Ten logo....Carolina blue. What were they thinking?

It looks like a rip off of the ACC logo...No not that ACC, the chiropractic group.

Not sure which is the worst? Logo, Division Names, or Division Make-up. Pretty much all three are horrid.

Delaney, in an article when introducing the Logo/Division Names, he said that anything new takes time to get used to it. Sounds like he thought they were horrible also.

I guess I can appreciate the "new think" in the Big Ten naming/logo.

It could be fun if other conferences followed suit.

The SEC..."So Everyone Cheats?"

The Cheater Division and the Non Compliant Division...

Motto..."Cheaters always win and losers never cheat".

The ACC..."It's always March".

The Tobacco Road Division and the Support Cast Division

The WAC..."Who Needs the stress of a Championship race?"

The Predator Division (one team) and the Prey Division

All great guys :D

What I couldn't believe is how presumptuous it was. I know athletic department web sites always take a positive spin and never print anything negative on their web pages and I figured this self-aggrandizement was just an extension of that, but come on. Even as a person who follows the Big 10, I thought this was too presumptuous.

For those that play Xbox you will understand what I mean when I say it sounds like a level that you attain on HALO. :D
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I agree. Delaney has gone from being a voice of reason in CFB to the biggest joke in college athletics. Legends and leaders is not just pretentious it is stupid. Delaney needs to either be fired or put in a stocks in the middle of Chicago so people can throw things at him. I prefer the stocks, he needs the time to reflect on his stupidity.

Is Indiana a Legend or a Leader? I'm Jonesing for Indiana to be a Legend.

It is even worse, they are a leader. It may be the first time in fifty years that Indiana has been a leader in football. I think Bob Knight maybe coach football next year for the leaders.

They were talking about this on the radio this morning. They wanted callers to call in with ideas of how public outcry generated enough heat for them to actually change things. Ernie Harwell being brought back after he was fired was a good one that they brought up, and they also said that the new basketballs the NBA decided to use frustrated the players enough to change it mid-season. Hopefully this will be similar

I have heard literally zero people who like this idea. None. At the most, people are just indifferent toward it, but nobody likes it. It makes the Big 10 into a laughingstock.
