Too bad there isn't a plus 1 this year, I would like to see TCU play the Oregon/Auburn winner.

Re: TCU
I agree; though, I do not buy any of this "We did it for the little guys" nonsense. They are trying to make too big of a story out of this.
TCU is jumping ship to the Big East, because of their selfishness. The chance for the MWC becoming a BCS auto-qualifier ended when Utah - TCU - BYU all chose to leave.
TCU is known for changing conferences as it suits them, and they do not care about allegiances. So to claim that they were the standing light for the rest of the smaller schools is just a bunch of garbage. They did it for themselves, and no-one else.
.
As for the Game; Wisconsin did not do what was needed to. They were unable to get their offense running until late in the game. TCU was smart, and kept the ball out of Wisconsin's hands with a couple of longer drives.
That showed Patterson was playing to win, not just playing to prove something.
Bielama had many chances. Wisconsin going for it on 4th & two, picking it up and yet, punting twice on 4th & one, when their running game had been productive ...
Mismanaging the game clock, calling a timeout on first down when you have the momentum, only to come back from the break and get stopped at the line of scrimmage.
Wisconsin had their chances, and chose not to take them.
TCU had their chances, and utilized the necessary execution.
TCU absolutely deserved to win ... Bielama made it so Wisconsin didn't.

I see nothing wrong with a team doing what is best for them, but I agree they were playing for themselves. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Of course...it only fits the playoff narrative that ESPN is beating to death.

I agree.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Re: TCU
What TCU has done was pretty improbable. I figured Wisconsin would run it to death on TCU and wear them down about 2/3 of the way through the third quarter.
I fear that the big boys, BCS suits and media lackeys will claim that it was a down year for the Big Ten and that's why TCU won.
The BCS is going to have to sabotage the tracks worse than they've done already to stop the non-AQ train.
Again, big win for TCU.

I figured the same. TCU played a good game. The Patterson-Bielema matchup was the difference. As for the non-AQ train, I don't think it makes a difference. While who you play doesn't really tell anything about how good you are, the fact that there are huge scheduling differences between the AQ and non AQ teams is always going to make a difference. Football should just chuck the BCS, chuck the playoff talk, and go back to playing bowl games for pride. As bad as we may have thought that sucked it is much better than anything I have heard about.

I have no problem with TCU doing it for themselves.
To make a decision that is based on the best interest for your program, and school in general, is precisely what you want out of a faculty & administration.
What I don't like, is the story traveling with them.
Yes, it makes TCU sound more politically correct, to be playing this one as a representative for all of the little guys.
But it is simply that; political correctness that denotes the same smoke & mirrors government politics uses.
The truth is, TCU has always looked out for #1. And that is a good thing for TCU.
But it is also true, that many of the non-automatic qualifier fans are parading the internet, and blowing up fan-sites as though TCU is their savior.
When in fact, by TCU leaving for the Big East, they did nothing for anyone, other-than themselves. And the Rose Bowl win does nothing for anybody outside of the BCS conferences, because that win leaves with the Hornedfrogs.

Re: TCU
The media penned the story on them and the coach decided to keep it for motivation. I don't think TCU started the "champion of the little guys" thing.

I don't either. This media hype is media created. It doesn't make a difference. If it did, Boise would have been there. Best ten year record in BCS Division. And yet ESPN, when talking about Oklahoma, called Boise's win a "trick play" team. Still. TCU, I think, may be the best team in the country, this year. The tackled better than any team I have seen. Consistent and with great form. Wisconsin was formidable team to beat. Next year...the conversations about this subject will be the same they have been for 10 years. When you have a money maker...do not make changes.

Re: TCU
Well, as far as I am concerned TCU proved it's point. Jumping to the Big East was a good move for them AND for the Big East
.
Some of you whinners are acting like no one else ever did anything selfish before in football.
TCU will probably be tops in the BE for a year or so (just as Louisville was when it joined after a number of good, non-BCS, seasons in Conference USA).
As an earlier poster noted WVa may be better. And, for sure, UL will be much better by 2012 with Charlie Strong at the helm. So TCU will have to earn it's top spot. I bet if TCU went 12-0 in the Big East, the BCS crowd would still have them in a lesser bowl.

Re: TCU
TCU I think is a great haul for the Big East. Louisville faded because they lost their once-in-a-program kind of coach, but TCU will probably not have to worry about that. They may take a step back in 2011 by losing a great deal of their starters (and by step back I mean 10-2 or 11-1
), but they will be re-loaded in 2012 for their first season in the Big East. I think being able to say you are going to face better competition week-in and week-out leads to better recruiting results and it gives the program a sense of legitimacy. Just watch what happens to TCU in 4 seasons; their lines will get bigger, their LBs will get bigger, and their DBs will get faster.
As for the Big East, they get a BCS-caliber program and plant some recruiting seeds in the Texas area.
