Arkansas end of year ranked teams played (after bowl game...from final AP poll):

Ark played 7 end of year ranked teams (went 4-3):
#1 Auburn (loss) - refs gave Auburn 14 (blown calls)
#5 Ohio State (loss) - so close (10 dropped passes)
#8 LSU (win)
#10 Alabama (loss) -led for 57 of 60 min (came up short)
#15 Miss State (win)
#19 Texas A&M (win)
#22 South Carolina (win)

Ark played more top 25 teams than non top 25 teams....more than half their schedule was end ranked in the AP top 25.

Could really blame them if they played a couple easy ones early next year, huh.

I have been saying all year that Arkansas had a murderous schedule...

and poor ole South Carolina had half their losses come from Auburn (had to play Cam and Fairly twice). The SEC West was the toughest division in football this year.

What's stupid about these polls is that Stanford finished ahead of Oregon.

I don't care how strong Stanford looked. I don't care if they won by 150 points. They did not win the Pac-10, Oregon did. And Oregon lost to a MUCH better team than Stanford beat. The same would go for TCU

#1 is Auburn and #2 is Oregon. I don't know why Oregon is punished for playing such a great game. Shame on the polls. They just HAVE to get their Equalization factor in and put TCU at #2.

There WILL be a playoff...Mark my words. In the end, it will not matter what the University Presidents say.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

It does matter what the presidents say - they control the purse strings.

Yes, they do control the purse strings. But the public will eventually want satisfaction. Eventually money will not matter, it will be about satisfying the people who pay the money to see the games. Public opinion is more powerful than money IMO.

Derek, the final polls have a few flaws: how can LSU be ranked ahead of Arkansas. They finish with the same record, Ark finshed ahead of them in the SEC West standings, Ark beat LSU, Ark lost a close game to a top 5 team in the Sugar Bowl, LSU beat a much lower ranked team in the Cotton Bowl...Texas A&M (by the way, a team Ark beat this year as well).

I also agree that Oregon should be ahead of Stanford.

The final AP poll had Oregon at #3. I still voted Oregon ahead of TCU at #2. I try not to fault teams for losing to the national champions

I would also like to clarify that although I think his poll is wrong. I do not think that cfbfan is stupid. I didn't make that too clear.

Even though Spence disagrees I feel that there is a point where the President's won't have a choice. ESPN WILL convince the public that a playoff is what's needed....eventually. They will keep pounding that tidbit into people's heads, and will eventually become truth.

And IMO, the TCU #2 ranking only serves to continue that agenda. Kind of a slap in the face of the computers.

The the point is made, your belief is that the final poll should reflect the outcome of the bowls and less about the year work. Nothing wrong, just my point that there is no standard, no rules and if the quest for this windmill is as fruitful as Don Quixote's.

I'm not sure the presidents ever cared what the public thinks - good or bad.

Or that is all they care about...both disastrous.

Yeah...I didn't fault South Carolina for two losses...the two games with the National Champ. I did fault them for their loss to FSU.
