FSU went with the Nike all blacks and lost badly to Wake...while some young fans rave about the black uni's...most of us are traditionalists and screamed that black is not an FSU color...put those deep in the closet, boys.

I'm a firm believer that the uniform doesn't make the man but the man does make the uniform.

Of course, as a great man once said, "You can have it in any color as long as it's black". Same as my closet.

Virginia Tech brought out some awesome black camo uniforms when they played Boise St. to open last season. The game was a great battle but they lost so we won't see them again.

The colors, it seems to me, should be the school colors, as garish as some school's colors may be. I am not convinced this 'compression' material does what it is touted to do, but if companies like Nike can get schools to take the free uniforms, there are a zillion schools out there that want on that bandwagon.

As a side note...schools have so many uniforms now they wear just a few times...no wonder some enterprising kid sees them lying in a cage and picks one up and the next thing you know, a long term coach stammers and stutters and gets fired.

I have little interest in teams throwing all these different uniforms around. But I especially dislike color changes. I mean the colors are, well, the colors!

The schools - and Nike for that matter - seem to have forgotten that their school colors and logo are their brand. It's what makes them recognizable when the average couch potato viewer is flipping channels in search of a game or team that draws their interest. It's a ploy that would seem to eventually be self-defeating.

The schools have forgotten...I am pretty sure Nike knows exactly what they are doing. I think there is not much other than junk science for the benefit of these compression jerseys and pants....I think I need significant compression.

I think there is, appropriately, a significant culture gap between 40+ year old alumni and the 18 -20 year old kids regarding uniform appearance.

The kids ( and I assume recruits) love the non traditional Nike Combat uni's, love Oregon's flash and yawn when looking at Penn State's uniforms. We took a poll on War Chant and all poll members had to list their age. The like or dislike of the Nike Combat was directly related to the age of the one being polled.

I always remember my son looking through an old album and finding pictures of my wife in hip hugging elephant bells with a wide belt, a psychedelic shiny blouse and wearing three inch platform shoes...his take?.."Jeez, and you guys worry how I dress?".

I dream of a better world, where a chicken can cross the road without his motive being questioned ... Unless the quote is from Colonel Sanders.

"Good decisions are based on experience and experience is based on bad decisions." (Unknown) I need more confidence in the youth, that they will take care of the important things in life. But until the young ballplayers start wearing their baseball pants bloused under the knee with socks showing...I am having a difficult time.

Purdue used to be "Old Gold and Black". A true gold. It is actually in our school song. Then NIKE threw money at us and told us the new gold would be "Las Vegas Gold". I hate it.

I've always thought Purdue's uniforms were really classy. I really like Florida State's pro combat ones, and West Virginia's actually weren't that bad. The rest of the Pro Combats were pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

Iowa has also transformed from Gold and Black to almost Yellow and Black. Hayden Fry did that and somewhat mimicked the Pittsburgh Steelers unis.

Eric, thanks for the thumbs up on our unis! The basic design I like. I am just "old fashioned" and just like the old gold better! Yup, Razor the Hawks changed also! Our current gold is almost a mustard color.
