I've always wondered, with the growing discontent if the NCAA/non-computer part of the BCS equation would attempt to "call our bluff" as it is, and give us non-BCS school fans our wish. If LSU trounces Boise for all of the marbles, they get to argue that they were right all along and there is a real separation between conferences. I expect it's too high-risk for them to dare doing so... All Boise would need to do is play anything close to as well as Oregon did vs. Auburn last year, and we've proven our point.


Anyway, it appears Mich St. will have to attempt their upset this weekend without Gholston. Not an insignificant loss, but they have enough solid (and dirty) defensive players that it shouldn't change the dynamic too much. Michigan St. still getting 7 at home (The bettors like them too. It opened +9.)

I think Boise State has proven they can hold their own with anyone. I think recent history has something to do with polls and Boise State has paid their dues - so to speak.

I am not sure that Wisconsin isn't the best team in the country. And that is the real problem with assigning a NC in the current format. If we have an undefeated, SEC, PAC12, B1G, and Boise St. all undefeated with a Houston around 10 or 12th ranked....many a native will be restless!

And the problem could be worse. WVU playing LSU keeps one conference from squawking. LSU playing Oregon could prevent another. Several teams have stepped up w/ good BCS OCC games...but there hasn't been enough to keep up with the growth of football to keep the BCS workable. While we continue to see talent growing in top FCS teams and in non-BCS teams it has to also mean that BCS schools are being separated less and less. Great, awesome...but that gets you closer to an NFL talent dispersion. When they manage to get 1, 2, or 3 teams to separate themselves from the pack in a "blessed" year, they get all oiled up awaiting a Titanic match-up. Well, in college that could translates 5 to 8 Titan type teams with so many more teams. It simply has to happen statistically. With college having less games the chance is multiplied that much more.

Yeah, I agree, which is why I expect they don't dare try the high risk move of pushing Boise to shut us up. And of course it was a memorable overtime edging of a reasonably solid Oklahoma team in the Fiesta Bowl that spooked the powers that be toward making Boise vs. TCU matchups a bowl norm...

Clemson, if they run the table, will be knocking on the door as will Oklahoma..

Boise...we'll see how the teams on their schedule look down the road...Georgia is doing their part after losing to S. Carolina. But I see Boise as behind the three above teams if all go undefeated...based on the body of work.

As usual, I think you are spot on. Unfortunately it does not make for a very exciting or entertaining season, so just watching individual games and being out in the fresh air is going to have to suffice.
