The absolute worst played game I have ever seen! I am upset that I allowed myself to get excited over the last few games and was eager to see if Holgorsen could really add some polish with a bye week. But it was the standard Mogantown fare...seemingly on steroids! I knew Syracuse would show up and they seemed to, but the Eers were so bad I don't know how to gauge the Cuse. I haven't a clue how you can build a program when you can not handle success. For 4 coaches and my entire life this has been the one constant it only takes 2 to 4 games of the fans talking about how good they are...and that is it...its over. And I better not hear fans hanging it on Holgorsen! This mess just got hung on him! Sorry Dana...I drank the Kool-Aid too, 7 or 8 times! That is the Almost Heaven part...John's Little Book Kool-Aid! *It is nice to see that Casteel has really settled in to Morgantown and took 2 weeks off too!

1) If you don't blitz and change looks in the 3-3-5 it is nothing more than a bad prevent defense. (But this has been on display this year...nice to see it ripen.)
2) If you are doing little blitzing and nothing fancy on movement, how do you miss 6 or 7 receiver covers...where nobody covers a guy...Nobody!?!?!?
3) Special Teams has put in a lot of work and made improvements I can't believe. And I let it go last time...but I can't now...#44, on special teams at least, is just t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e!
That is the 2nd KO return he has given up. Again, last down the field, and again a major mistake. It is hard to blame a guy if he gets beat in open field...err,uhh, umm...but
you have to get beat because the runner sticks his foot in the ground, not because of a little hip swerve or mild angle change. If he has to make a hard cut, that will likely
result in the trailers making up the 2 steps. The last time he took the most God Awe-full angle on a tackle attempt I have ever seen when 2 other guys had the runner pinned
on the sideline, it was a clean-up play...ridiculous.
4) If you don't have any heart, then follow the yellow brick road. You don't have to talk to the wizard but you do have to hit the road!

I have to agree with my friend who texted me after that toilet bowl..."the Big East is in trouble!" Well no, I don't agree, "the Big East isn't in trouble, the Big East is done!"

Well I, for one, quite liked it.

But yeah, I understand where you are coming from on the other side of this. Last year showed 'Cuse can get up for this game, and especially in the Dome giving us 14 was overly generous. Marrone knows how to inspire, and with a coach like that every game has to be taken partially on it's own merits. Losing a squeaker to Rutgers doesn't necessarily foreshadow getting clobbered against West Virginia. Still that was a close game that turned a rout by some crap execution by WV. Nassib had the coverage figured, if not all game, then at least through the 2nd half. Meanwhile, WV just isn't a blitzing team... just not their M.O. Something like 8 sacks all season.

Yeah, so sorry it stunk for you, man. Nothing new under the sun though. Pretty much all the same as last year, only more exaggerated. Now watch us waste it all and lose it against Louisville.

Definitely agreed. We stole him away from the NFL, and he enjoys being here. Seal the deal - double his salary if necessary - and make sure he sticks around to establish us in the ACC.

Syracuse and UConn are the 2 teams that are going to dig in and do what they do (and Pitt and Rutgers are close to that and it looks like UofL has joined that club). WVU can look like world beaters and struggle in those games. I can live with that, but you can't let a TE just jog down the field and then let a Slot Receiver do the same...I had never seen this from this D. The no blitz thing is new this year. It is the one thing I do wonder if DH has inserted because I think you only see it when they are up by more than 10. I have heard of offensive thinking coaches not liking a rambling gambling D putting too much pressure on the offense, namely "his offense". Same thing about D's gambling in coverage to play for INT's. I like both the O and D to hang it out, and more over it doesn't matter what I like...that is WVU's 3-3-5, and by that the only one that has ever ranked in the top D's season after season. If he has stopped both of these things on D has greatly erred!!!

Nassib looked good and I think he has talent...but you and I could look good if they let us run passing drills in a game. But that is good coaching, take what they give you and keep on taking it until the knuckleheads figure it out! And they quit throwing the screens against the Cuse D...who played exactly how I like a D to play...meet you at the QB. Too much emphasis on getting the deep ball in...trying to open up the run. That is why I get mad when hairspray heads keep talking about needing to run the football. That is bull...I don't need to try and dig 3 yards out on this play if I can throw it this down and next down and I have a 83% chance of getting 17, 91% for 13, etc, etc...in 2 plays. And why, "because you take what the defense gives you!" Which kills me because the hair-do's follow up with that comment too. And it is very rare when they can keep saying this about a team and the coach does not end up listening. I know of 4 guys who never cared what make-up men say; Bobby Bowden, Les Miles, June Jones, and Mike Leach. The others eventually listen in an attempt to appease the voters.

WVU played their LB's way up in the gaps...the Cuse tight end could delay and run free behind them or wheel to the gap that the safety had vacated as he helped the CB. The tight end is still running loose somewhere in Morgatown.

" Dang, that worked. Their linebackers are still way up, let's do it again"

"Well, that worked, they aren't covering the tight end...lets's do it again."
