Re: If....!!!!!
I'd rather see Houston than the SEC West rematch.

No rematches. I am OK with Houston for the same reason I have been OK with Boise...we put them in the pot...they deserve to have their number drawn.

Re: If....!!!!!
Alabama and LSU were not separated in their match...no real difference in regulation and only a missed FG in OT.
I wouldn't mind seeing those teams battle it out again....If LSU wins out and Bama has only the by the chinny chin chin loss to LSU...who deserves the NC match more?

In 1996...#2 FSU met #1 Florida in the last game of the regular season...both undefeated. FSU beat Florida.
FSU and Florida were rematched in the Sugar Bowl...Florida won, leaving both teams now at 12-1...Florida was National Champion on the latest win.

Not Alabama. If you grant the home team 3 points, then Alabama couldn't put those to use. I would only support a rematch if the road team lost by a squeaker. If Alabama gets another shot at LSU, then the first game meant nothing. Like I said elsewhere, give Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, or Houston a chance. If they get blown out, then oh well; the national title will have been played in Tuscaloosa that night

Houston?
Please! With an SOS of 116? While a one loss Bama doesn't play?
No quality wins..No game played against a top 30 team...Might as well have 11-0 Sam Houston State play. If who you play means nothing.

Re: If....!!!!!
What the Alabama-LSU game meant in retrospect was that it pointed out who the best two teams in the country are...evenly matched pair that might as well be 1a, 1b.
Houston?...I really don't know what to say.

Re: If....!!!!!
What's dissapointing is that Ark (if they beat LSU) will be 11-1 (should be ranked #2 in BCS after that win...however humans will find a way to drop them after beating #1 on the road) and Ark could be left out of a BCS game all together. I don't want a rematch either but if AR beats LSU how do you keep them out of the top two spots, and ig Bama wins out how do you keep them out of the top two spots, and the same can be ssid about LSU? No matter what Ark is going to get left out...even if they whip LSU in Baton Rouge.
"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).

I know the argument. But these games are experiments. If Bama lost to LSU in the first week of November, then they had their chance. Give someone else a shot. Your comparison to Sam Houston State is invalid I think, although I realize it's hyperbolic. The jury is still out on Houston on whether or not they can play with a big team. We can surely say that Sam Houston State can't.
I'm not saying that Houston is better than Alabama or even more deserving (I think they'll lose to Tulsa next week). But even so, if the championship game already occurred in Tuscaloosa, then there's no sense in re-doing it.

I love this tangled web that has been woven. It's been 4 years, but making up the rules as you go, could come back to bite them.
But anywho, Arkansas has not beaten LSU yet, if that happens, then we have a problem.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Re: If....!!!!!
And I just watched this video where an ESPN commentator was pushing Alabama to get the spot even without winning the Conference.
SEEEE....it's not about rules...it's about who you are. Alabama is special so they can get in without winning the CCG. Georgia? No.

Not so sure the Hogs get left out. Assuming we are #3 in the latest BCS poll and not number 4. If we beat #1 LSU, we would certainly move up to either #2 or #1. Then for the Hogs not to be in the National Championship game, as Bama would play Georgia in the SEC championship, they would have to arbitrarily move someone up to #2. Pretty tough to do this year.

If that were the case, then have Sam Houston State play Houston to prove it.

And if this is true, then forget even having a Bowl for the title, because the National Title game already happened.
No, I'd much rather see a rematch of Alabama/LSU, over Houston/anybody.
If Houston wins out, let them get the bejeezus beaten out of them by a BCS opponent. Just do not pair them with the Big East (or quite possibly the ACC). Let them play in the Sugar Bowl against the SEC team who feels as though they got slighted.
If they fair better than Hawai'i did, then we'll say, hm . .. . maybe.
However, let's be realistic about things. You certainly cannot toss Houston into the Championship, and tell Boise they never proved themselves.
Especially seeing as how Houston's schedule looks like:
Sat, Sept 3
vs UCLA
Sat, Sept 10
@ North Texas
Sat, Sept 17
@ Louisiana Tech
Sat, Sept 24
vs Georgia State
Thu, Sept 29
@ UTEP
Sat, Oct 8
vs East Carolina
Sat, Oct 22
vs Marshall
Thu, Oct 27
vs Rice
Sat, Nov 5
@ UAB
Thu, Nov 10
@ Tulane
Sat, Nov 19
vs Southern Methodist
Fri, Nov 25
@ Tulsa
And then finally, the CUSA title game vs likely opponent So Miss.
Houston broke the cardinal rule for non-BCS teams.
They schedule an FCS opponent.
There for, they Cougars are irrelevant.

Not enough 1 loss teams left. If Arkansas wins out they play for #1.
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.
Re: If....!!!!!
As Eric says, that game hasd already been played....Bama beat 'em badly...they are out.
Or should be...Bama was barely beaten by LSU in OT...Arkansas was dragged up and down the field by Alabama.....
