Re: You Don't Want Your Team To Play ___
You know? I wouldn't want to play a unranked or #25 FSU.
They aren't really good this year, but the defense is good enough to embarrass you. And the Noles have given higher ranked teams fits...they did lose four games this year...but by a combined total of 20 points.
2005...11-1 Penn State as the Big Ten Champs hated having to play the 8-4 Noles in the Orange...triple OT resulted.
2009...9-4 WVU griped about having to play the barely bowl eligible (6-6) Noles.....who went on to beat them.
2010..9-4 FSU played the SEC East Champs, 9-4 South Carolina...and won the game.

Any team Boise State is going to play in a bowl game....The will not improve their position one bit by beating anyone they will be paired with...so nothing to gain, everything to lose. This system takes the luster out of all post season games except a couple and makes the season's play irrelevant. Form over substance....our National Accounting Standard and CF model.

I think most of the bowl games have always been irrelevant, other than the fans of the two schools involved and a true college football junkie. The only thing this current system has done, is make 1 game really mean something.

I never really cared who we played in the bowl game. Where we played is a different thing.

Yeah, that is one of the problems with the conferences and the bowl tie-ins. The fans get tired of going to the same place every year. I have probably been to about 15 bowl games over the years, but never to the Rose Bowl. Iowa has gone a few times, but I couldn't go, for one reason or another.Spence wrote:I never really cared who we played in the bowl game. Where we played is a different thing.

I would say USC and Georgia who look like top 5 teams right now. Obviously the Trojans can't go, but if they could, the Pac-12 title game would have been a lot more interesting

You need to try and go to a Rose Bowl, it is an expensive trip, but it is the best over-all experience of any bowl game IMO.

Razor, I thought you went when Iowa was there! I agree with Spence it is the best if and when someone can go. You absolutely have to take in the mother of all parades also. Never such a crowd of is it a million? Go to the gaem across the interstate about 1/2 mile watch the game come back out of the bowl and the WHOLE parade route is cleaned up of trash (the stands are still there). The staduim is impressive but, I thought the stands were blase! They rise way to slow and and it becomes almost flat thus not good if you are 30+ rows away.

Oh BTW. I don't want my team to play anyone. I am not sure we can beat anyone with a winning record except Ohio St (sorry Spence).

We don't have a winning record. We are 6-6.

Re: You Don't Want Your Team To Play ___
Gonzaga maybe, or Butler.
I'm assuming that for me the question refers to basketball, as my team is Syracuse. Can't see how it would apply in football as 5-7 beggars can't be choosers... besides the one team in the Big East we actually beat is the one that will likely end up being awarded the bowl. Such is the screwiness of the Big East this season.
