Arkansas Offensive Coordinator Garrick McGee took the head coaching job at UAB.
Arkansas Special Teams Coach John L. Smith took the head coaching job at Weber State.
That is two of Ark's top 3 recruiters...and both were very good coaches. It will be interesting to see who Petrino gets to replace them. I guess this is a sign of a successful program with other schools want your assistants as head coaches.
I wish them both the best.
Ark just lost 2nd football coach in two days...

It's good to hear that John L. Smith is getting back in the game. He had a good run at Arkansas so far as I can tell and I'm glad to see him back out West where he came up through the ranks. I was hearing that he may have been interested in Memphis, but maybe it wasn't reciprocal.

I have always been a fan of John L and remember when he went off on a tirade while at Michigan St. I don't think he was responsible for much recruiting though. Of course, he and Petrino have coached together for quite a bit of time. Petrino as one of Smith's assistants and then Smith as a Petrino assistant. I would imagine they are very good friends also.

This is the ultimate compliment to a head coach!
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

Looks like Paul Petrino, Bobby's brother, is returning to his old position of OC at Arkansas. Here is the source out of Illinois. http://m.illinihq.com/sports/illini-spo ... ansas.html
John L was a good coach at Ark. Outside of three plays all year Ark's special teams dominated their opponents. LSU had a punt return TD, Bama had a punt return TD and a fake fieldgoal for a TD. ARK's special teams scored 6 TD's this year, fieldgoal kicking was great, and punting was exceptional. He was also well liked as a coach and person.
