The Creighton Bluejays continue to struggle when they play on the east coast as the St. Joseph's Hawks defeated at home the 19th ranked team in the country 80-71. Carl Jones scored 20 of his 29 points in the second half to lead the Hawks to the win. Jones made 10 of his 11 free-throw attempts in the game and dished out 5 assists. Ronald Roberts came off the bench to chip in with 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Creighton came in as one of the best shooting teams in the country, but only shot 44.3% from the field. What made that number even more unusual is that the Bluejays made 11 of their 21 3-point attempts in the game. Doug McDermott had another fine game for the Bluejays as he had 26 points and 10 boards in the losing effort. The Hawks are now 7-3 as the Bluejays fall to 7-1.
