Belk Bowl, UL loses

Postby Swamp Daddy » Wed Dec 28, 2011 1:05 am

Well darn. UL goes down to NC State by a touchdown 31-24. It was an interesting game including one drive where NC State had 3 false starts; but, UL made 4 straight penalties on 3rd & long to let NC State finally score a field goal. :)

Our strong defense did the job except on that one field goal drive. However, our young offensive drive with a ton of freshmen could not protect our QB long enough.

UL had 3 tries on 4th and short (inches, one yard, 1-1/2 yard) and each time they did the same handoff 8 yards deep in the backfield making it 8-10 yards for a first down. I guess our OC hasn't heard of the QB sneak.

They were sucessful late in the game on an offsides kick; and, a score followed. Guess what they are gonna try it again and NC State puts all 11 men up close. Me, I'da then kicked it long. Nope they tried the on-sides kick again which predictably NC State recovered. We got the ball back trailing 31-24 with nearly 4 minutes left but quickly stalled out when the O-line couldn't stop a couple of sacks for big losses.

Freshman QB throwing 3 intereceptions did not help either; but, I really can't fault him much.

As they say  , wait til next year.

Louisville let me down! I'm 4-6 in my bowl picks right now. I guess I don't know anything about college football

Although, on the bright side for Louisville, Teddy Bridgewater looks like he has the potential to blossom into a star at QB for The Ville. I hope the Cards continue building around him because he looks like he'll be special.

Louisville's O line couldn't keep NC State out of the backfield...that was the game.
