Florida State vs Notre Dame

Postby donovan » Fri Dec 30, 2011 1:44 pm

Florida State gained a lot from the win last night. Pretty well decimated with injuries, they were able to do what it took and I suppose this win will put them in good standing in the polls next year. Most important is they have a field goal kicker. Good job coaching, Mr. Billybud.

Those four true freshmen on the O line grew up fast...and to think that the left tackle was only 16 when he reported to FSU in August and a few months later he ia playing Notre Dame in a bowl..

FSU had an "Insider's Feed"...I found that the coaches were different last night. Trickett usually yells and screams at the O Line but last night he was patiently explaining where the blitz's were coming from and who would take what...

The second half, FSU made some adjustments. They didn't play as much out of the shotgun and went to two back sets giving a blocker...the Noles also started hitting passes and forcing safeties back.

I did think that when both of FSU's cornerbacks went out with injuries, that would be the ball game (and both of those guys will play in the NFL). The safeties that had to move and play CB did well.

Lou Holtz was such a ND homer I just shook my head. He said that Notre Dame had the game won at halftime and would not need any further points...at the end of game, I thought he was going to cry. Mark May was laughing and having fun with that.

I think Lou Holtz has picked against Notre Dame once and that was when they faced South Florida who happens to be coached by his son, Skip Holtz

According to the game participation chart on seminoles.com, FSU played 13 true freshmen, 9 on offense and 4 on defense ! That must be some kind of record.
