Nove18 BCS Poll

Postby donovan » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:28 pm

Just look at the rankings, given Notre Dame should probably be number one...just look at them.....the is no defense for such an atrocity. Computers, humans, androids and muskrats....baloney. If the BCS was a business...they would have been bankrupt long ago.......

What's funny is that Georgia, who beat Florida, has an computer average ranking of 6......Florida's average computer ranking you ask??......SECOND!

On what planet does that make sense.

Florida is a little to high IMO. I think Oregon should still be ahead of them. To be fair, Florida's only loss was to the #3 team, so that looks good to the computers...I GUESS.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Massey's computer doesn't even have FSU ranked at all.....

...and that is what I just don't get.... Any ranking that ranks, at this time of the year, a no loss or 1 loss team beneath a slew of 2 loss teams, has a system that can not be taken seriously.....and if it can not be taken seriously now, when the incongruities become apparent to the most feeble minded of us, then in reality, they can not be trusted early in the season when there is not that many games played. They still have the same issues then. As much as we like computers that add and subtract very well, "fuzzy logic" is a long way from being where it needs to be; in my opinion.

I have been arguing with Vegas,,,Florida is ranked #2 by the computers and I find that I have to give the Gators 7 points if I want to bet on the Noles.

"But, but..the computers have Florida #2".

"sorry guy, but it is FSU -7, we don't use no stinin' computers."

I think that Florida State should be ranked in the top five somewhere. They would be third in my poll if I had a vote. I would have Notre Dame first, though, even though I think Florida State and Alabama would be favorites in a match up. I don't agree that if you would be the favorite in the game, that should qualify your team to be ranked ahead of someone elses. It is so hard to rank teams with little in common that even Vegas has some problems setting their odds on teams in bowl games and they are the best at it.

Or:

Preseason Rankings . . . where there is no data to compile . . . no stats to compare . . . and no wins/losses to justify positioning . . . ranking a O win - O Loss team, above or below anyone . . . because everyone has O wins - O Losses.
