Well ND has been living on past reputation for last 15 years up until this year. I normally hate the Irish for their taking the cream of bowls from the BE, now similar deal with the ACC without playing a conference schedule; but, I hope they beat the SEC contender for the national crown.

I'm cheering for Notre Dame. I think a lot of the SEC huffing and puffing about how much better they are than Notre Dame is misguided. Notre Dame is the kind of team that has the willpower and the defensive talent to beat any team in the country. I know Alabama has been able to score (mostly against teams with terrible defenses), but Notre Dame's defense can limit them. If it's a defensive slugfest, any thing can happen depending on the breaks.

Georgia has some NFL talent on the defense, but as a unit, it's not as good as Notre Dame's. If I were doing the confidence pool today and they played Georgia, I would take Notre Dame in the low double digits. Georgia has given up 43 points in their last 5 games (8.6 ppg), but it's against Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Auburn, bad Ole Miss offense, and Florida who self-destructed and is a mediocre offense anyway. I know with everyone back they appear to be settling in as a defense, but it's not an all-world unit that Notre Dame would be lucky to score more than 10 points against.

I'm not dumping on your team or anything, Derek. If Georgia wins and demolishes Notre Dame in the championship, hold me to it and I'll eat a lot of crow . Same for Bama, although I'm confident that Notre Dame would keep the final within one score.

Today's SEC title game was national championship quality. This is the way I enjoy football being played; in the trenches. Notre Dame might contain Yeldon or Lacy in the BCS title game, but both of them, no way.

Sorry about your Dawgs, Derek. They were certainly in it until the end. The way UGA played today, IMO, they would've defeated Notre Dame by two touchdowns. Gurley would've been too much for them to handle and Golson might not have been effective against Georgia's defense as they would've bottled up their running game.

I agree. I am a big fan of football played like that game was played. Good defense. Offenses good enough to navigate good defense. Georgia played a great game. They may have had a shot if there were 20 more seconds in the game.

It always seems to me, that in the pressure of these close games and time is winding down, it is up to the Coaches to make clear decisions and make sure the players know. In the heat of the battle it is tough to second guess what is going on. The coaches are watching the time, the defense...etc...the players are getting their heads knocked silly. I think the old days when the players called the plays and made all the decisions was better.... but if your going to pay the Coaches obscene amounts of money..then at crunch time they need to earn it.

Fun game to watch. I was pulling for Derek more than Georgia....so I am sad that is not going to happen....but it will allow me to root for Notre Dame because they are not in the SEC.

Unlike the Big East, the Irish don't really take any bowls from the ACC. In the 12 year contract, the Irish will get to play the ACC Champ a maximum of two times in the Orange Bowl (the higher rated SEC or Big Ten team plays the ACC Champ the other times).
