Any team that is predicated on setting up the play action or a draw is engaging in "deception". Any team that employs a play designed to spring a singular guy loose is engaging in "deception", because you have other guys running routes but they are there to distract or give the defense something to think about. Not telling your opponent what your next play is going to be is engaging in "deception" as well. I guess you should man up and tell them what you're going to do 100% of the time and let the better man win?
The bottom line is if an offense works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't. The goal in football is to get the ball in the endzone. The offense has the advantage of choosing the scripted play and it is the defense's job to react to it and account for what they might do. Oregon does use a lot of misdirection, but so does everybody.
