Success is measured by results; whereas Character is measured through the means by which one achieves those results . . .

Well, there goes one of my favorite Patriotic Songs........

”We’re already in a time where the on-field aspect of College Football is almost a distraction. It’s an era filled with handwringing about player empowerment, NCAA deregulation, the transfer portal and realignment all while the sport generally moves toward a professional model.” ~ Dennis Dodd

This is the height of arrogance. I can think of a couple of OSU's that will fight it..........The sad part is I believe Ohio State Fans believe the whole country gets it when in fact It stops at Chillicothe.

Re: Trademarking "The" University..?
I’m surprised they haven’t don’t it before now.
I’m sure this mostly has to do with marketing a line of clothing or something like similar. Honestly no Ohio State fan says “The Ohio State University” unless they are trying to get on someone’s nerves or get a rise out of someone. We all just call them Ohio State, Buckeye’s, or Bucks.
The school, though, leaves no stone unturned when it comes to gaining an advantage in the marketplace and they are absolutely shameless about it. We will see if that comes back to haunt them for hiring a head coach that has no real experience. Ohio State has never done this before and it couldn’t come back to haunt them if it doesn’t work out.

Will never stand up in court. Knowing that it won't, but trying anyway, is called arrogance.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
- John Madden

According to the New York Times finally some news "fit to print."
"Trademark requests denied: The N.B.A. star LeBron James lost his attempt to trademark the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” which he uses on Instagram. Separately, it’s not The Ohio State University, according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which denied the school’s request to trademark the word “The.”

I guess Miami fans are off the hook ...
We're still allowed to say "The U" in reference to the program.
