Colorado fires Coach Hawkins

Postby Dossenator » Tue Nov 09, 2010 12:22 am

Well, the first one of the season falls according to the Denver Post. Dan Hawkins is out at Colorado...well it's not completely official but they say it will be announced tomorrow. Who replaces him for next season?

The fans have been up in arms...the horrible collapse to Kansas was too much to overcome.

An ignomious end for the wonder boy of Boise. Colorado, according to the news, has lost 17 straight games outside the state of Colorado.

They do need a good coach.

Colorado needs more then a good coach. That program is rotten at the core. It has been for some years now, before Hawkins, not that Hawkins made progress. I think they are going to have to to major house cleaning at Colorado if they want to fix the problems with that program.

I think you are exactly right. Hawkins made some progress on cleaning it up, certainly did not add to it...but perhaps it has not been all in the athletic department....Well see.....Cleaning up a program is not enough to keep your job..ala Willingham....Cleaning up a program may cost you a job..ala Willingham and Hawkins. Now there is something for someone to look at.........

What upset the Buff fans was that Colorado was way up and in the 4th quarter, instead of running the ball and eating the clock, Hawkins had his QB son throwing. Giving the ball repeatedly back to Kansas and lettinng them score 35 points in 11 minutes.

Speculation about improving son's stats, etc abounded. The strategy seemed strange and had the Colorado folks calling for his head.

I pick Mike Leach for Colorado, although I can see him avoiding that situation.

How about Mullen from Miss State?

Not sure how much of a step up that would be.

My vote would be for Nick Saban...get him out of the SEC West. :D

The good thing about Nick Saban is he has an ego big enough to believe he can go to Colorado and fix things, so make the money right and you may get him to jump.

I'd like to see an experiment...Go back to the well and get Peterson. I'd be interested to see if he can turn it around.

The answer is no. Do not think he is the least bit interested in program resurrection. Does a good job of maintaining but not a turn around guy. And lastly.....I think the hot dogs at Boise State are lousy. Add that to your list.

A good hot dog at a sports event is an oxymoron of sorts....

We have a place here called Dog et all...great dogs with anything you want on them. I'm not a fancy guy, I take the footlong, add mustard and onions and I'm good.

Colorado had is share of academic and off field problems. Looks like they cleaned it up and now they suffer. No wonder athletic departments want to look the other way on problems. Turn the head keep the turnstiles and wins coming and to heck with everything else. Lesson learned for Colrado.
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.
