Wolverine's Robinson?

I see him play a couple of games a year and I just don't think he has improved much at all since the first time I saw him play. (As a matter of fact I think he has gotten enough comfort to throw to allow for even more and bigger errors!)

This has diminished over the years, but it still a true general statement. It is difficult to develop needful pocket skills and footwork when you can bail yourself out with running ability through the Junior High and High School years.

Ohio State has the same problem with Braxton Miller (except Miller is bigger and can take more abuse). I wish we quit aging this high school offense and go back to playing big boy football.

He is another Antwan Randle-El type. Too good of an athlete not to play on Sundays but, not really a good thrwing QB. On the other hand, have you seen Manziel of A&M. He is the real deal both ways. I saw him in HS 2 years ago and figured ge can't miss-barring serious injury.

Yeah, Denard Robinson is absolutely terrible. I had to seriously ask myself if the coaching staff works on passing fundamentals with him. Since you can't possibly fathom that they don't even discuss the topic, you have to come to the conclusion that, with respect to passing and footwork, Denard Robinson is completely uncoachable. He has actually regressed as a passer this year. If you want to know why Michigan got slaughtered against Alabama, it was because of ridiculous turnovers and having no passing threat. Stack the box and wrap up Denard who can't run by a team as talented as Alabama or Notre Dame, and you're going to completely shut down this offense. Obviously that's not the only reason Michigan lost because they would have gotten outclassed either way against Bama, but they got rolled like they were Florida Atlantic because they had no offense to speak of.

Now sure Denard can look amazing against Air Force and UMass. Those guys get shoved around on the defensive line, a large hole opens up, Denard bursts through, they can't catch him, 70 yards for a touchdown. That won't work against teams like Nebraska, Ohio State, and Michigan State going forward. Michigan's offense actually wasn't terrible last night because they moved the ball, but they couldn't score because of miscues. I think they were in the red zone six times and came away with two field goals. That's ridiculous.

If you want to know what it feels like for Michigan fans, think of your offense being run by your Wildcat QB for 4 quarters. Robinson is a good passer by Wildcat standards, but is absolutely horrendous as an every down QB.

And that can be successful and has been even in the NFL. He is a QB who is an athlete, not an athlete who they make QB. Robinson is a flanker who Rich Rodriguez annointed QB. That almost never works.
