Oh, I agree. My point is that if you have a guy who brings in 2 Billion dollars to your company, would you be willing to pay him 14 million. It's probably a good deal from that standpoint. That isn't to say that I believe he should be getting that much in salary and benefits. Or that I care much for Gee - because I think he is an elitist. But when you look at what he brings in a year, he is paying his own way.

I defend the rich in many ways. But if I ran this crapper of a credit and debit sheet I'd greatly simplify the tax code. And then Capital Gains would follow the percentile increase that income currently does. Expensing in excess of 25% of a person's salary would then follow a similar percentage climb, but would be imparted to both the employee and company. That spending is just as frivolous as the EIC Traypartto Christmas in March spending! And I'd Barney Fife the heck out of it.

I hear all the time from people in public education about how tough they have it. I have a good friend who will be 52 this year. He is a principal in a local school system here. He makes $104,000 a year, which is really good here, especially considering the hours he works. He is retiring next year and will receive 85% of his current salary (over 88,000) until he passes away. It is hard for me to feel sorry for educators in the public school system. I'm sure not all public employees have this kind of deal, but they do for sure.

If I ever retire, which is doubtful, I have to live off the money I saved and invested. I don't begrudge him the money, I just don't like hearing how bad they have it. He can even go back to work after retirement and collect a teachers salary (for his years and experience $75,000 per year) on top of his retirement. Not a bad deal.
