Did realignment affect some games?

Postby Swamp Daddy » Sun Nov 25, 2012 12:59 pm

Well, I hardly know what to put into this post. Losing to Syracuse was bad enough; but, losing to a so-so Uconn team this week was even harder to acknowledge. Inept playing, poor and indecisive coaching. Geez, we must have had 10 possessions in the second half and could do nothing with any of them.

Teddy Bridgewater broke his left wrist and still came back to give an amazing last few minutes performance tying the game in regulation. I thought maybe luck would let them pull it out; but, this time the lady was absent from both sides and Louisville lost in triple overtime to Uconn.

Rutgers also had a myster loss which made me suspect realignment nerves affected both teams. And, still, if Louisville manages to squeak one out over Rutgers thursday we will (by all the tie breakers I heard) be the conference champ. Amazing, not even thought of a few weeks ago.

We lose and Rutgers gets it all. UL has very few seniors and the recruiting class will be small. Still Strong can be more picky.

Don't know what to think, Swamp Daddy :?

With UL going to the ACC, the musical chairs are now taking a few days off. It is rumored and talked about on some blogs that FSU, Clemson were shaky about staying in the ACC; but, they now feel football has been upgraded with UL coming in rather than UConn. Strange that others (not locals) consider UL a 'football' school  . But, it feels good; and, the administration is sure behind football with support and money. The ACC has all 23 varsity sports UL participates in; and, two more sports UL does not have. Whereas the Big12 has many fewer varsity sports and a number of nationally prominent UL teams would have to affilate with some other conference.

UL will come in with an all sports athletic budget as big as or bigger than all ACC teams. I think I like this move better than the big 12 would have been. We can at least compete in ACC football; and, we can be right at the top in basketball. In the Big 12, we would have probably done as well in basketball but would have a tough time in football.

I hope this stabilizes for UL for a few years. And, we know a number of the teams there well.
