My daughter's birthday is August 23, so that sometimes (very rarely) places her party the next weekend. My birthday is September 10 (no big deal), my wife's is September 23 (she is not a big college football fan unless LSU is playing Bama or in the big game), my brother-in-law's daughter birthday is October 3, so a Saturday is taken up with that sometimes. My mother-in-law's birthday is on Halloween, but the church Fall Festival lands on a Saturday closest to that.

So when planning to purchase tickets for games... well, let's just say the BCS formula is easier to grasp.

A true conspiracy I tell you.

I must have lucked out because my birthday and my brother's is in February and my dad's in early March. My cousin got married last July, so lately I've dodged those bullets 8)

You know, us college football nerds basically get 15 days a year to ourselves. I would feel more guilty complaining if I didn't get to watch a baseball game or something along those lines

Yeah, I've got it rather good in that sense . . . usually my wife simply assumes there is a game I plan on watching (or 3 ... or 4) and asks me what time the games start. And often, what are the times of other games I plan to watch.

Generally, she makes plans to do things with her friends, and if anybody asks what I am doing, she just tells them, "he's watching football".

Most of the time, I'll be happy to break off for a while, and go grab lunch or dinner with her.

In those for instances, we will still hit a place like 'Red Robin' or 'Hacienda' where they have multiple games going.

It's just those other family people who don't tend to get it . . .

I'm beginning to think someone needs to form a petition that would outlaw Autumn Weddings, on Thursdays through Saturdays.

I have a golf pro friend that in his Junior golf program at a private country club, instructed the girls to not get married in the Fall for this reason.
We got married on either Nov 24th or the 25th, not sure which, but it will not keep me from watching or going to a football game.

It's now about 45 days until kickoff. I'm about burned out on watching past games so I'm gonna try to get to open practices. If you believe the media hype by 50% this is the most talented team Louisville has ever had. This may be true. We've had very talented individuals at times; but, often over all the team was not top notch.

We'll see. To go with the best team ever, we have the worst schedule ever in the lame AAC conference. Thank heavens it's on to the ACC next year.

I can't wait. I am excited to see what Bret Bielema can bring to Arkansas.

I keep watching past games and hightlights. This is my favorite highlight and one of the best punt returns ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvZdu3RLeLU

I have been reading the Longhorn site.

Many on that site think that many Arkansas fans are tired of being an also ran in the SEC and may desire to move to the Big 12 and reunite with Texas/Oklahoma.

Anything to that? I had thought that Razorback fans were well entrenched in the SEC and weren't looking back.

Do not believe any propaganda that a Longhorn spews out. No doubt in my mind that the Hogs would be way more competitive in the Big 12, but in no way would I want to not be in the SEC.

I don't know of any Razorback fans that would choose the Big 12 over the SEC.

This video just released for 75th anniversary of Razorback Stadium. I am ready for some football: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAG5r7UK7Fk

What a beautiful setting, and stadium for college football. I am fortunate to have season tickets yet again. I can't wait!

Thanks Swamp Daddy. I will be pulling for your Cardinals this year.

Billybud, the Arkansas move out of the SEC is a topic that is brought up on message boards and local sports talk radio from time to time. The overwhelming opinion is that Arkansas would be crazy to leave the SEC. It is a very small group that would like to see the move to join Texas, OU, etc.

You know, my wife keeps setting the dvr to record "The Biggest Loser" and it keeps recording University of Texas football games. Best one I heard this week.

I am ready for some football.

Fall camp for UL started yesterday. DL coach Clint Hurtt back on the field after being on leave before as the NCAA was investigating his activities at Miami; results of that not back in yet.

Almost "short time" now until the season starts.

Let's check out the new cleats, LOL.
