Final Four per Mr. Congrove
I was reading Mr. Congroves articles, which I think are very good and very independent of common consensus and note this. Here is his predictions for the final four pairings.....
Rose
Pasadena, CA
$18,000,000 1/1/15 (Payout is per team) If they go to the finals, then add another 22 million for a total of 40 million....social conscience is gone.)
Florida State vs.Oregon
Sugar
New Orleans, LA
$18,000,000 1/1/15
8:30pm Alabama vs. Ohio State
I think he may be spot on. This is the money pairing for TV viewing. FSU v OR....battle of the QB's and all the other hype....Alabama v Ohio State Great traditional football teams is classic football...couldn't get better and in the final, regardless of winner, you have great stories to tell.
I would like these match ups. Think of the "excitement" if they have a TCU v Florida State....Both people in the stadium would be yawing, but Petticoat Junction reruns would be up in ratings.

Saban vs Meyer is a ratings winner. Especially with what happened the last time they met.

He usually does.
My top 4 would have been Florida State, Oregon, Alabama, and Ohio State.

There is definitely a "strategy" to maximize ratings with the way they did the rankings. Which makes me ask, how much can you trust them?

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

As long as it done by a committee money will be a factor. I know I am a broken record on this issue, but they need to playoff all conference winners to make it fair. No committee, not even one with us in it, can determine who the best teams are in any given year. This committee acted like they wanted to drop an undefeated defending national champ for not beating teams by enough. Think about that. Ohio State got in because they score 3 touchdowns more than good sportsmanship should allow. The committee had Baylor behind TCU even though Baylor won head to head. They did it because they were sure Baylor would get beat by K State. Predicting the future should not be a job of the committee.
I believe the committee took their job seriously. I don't think they did a bad job picking teams. I would still think that if Baylor or TCU made it ahead of Ohio State. But know matter how good they try to do their job they don't have enough information to do their job. The conference champ will have beaten everyone in their conference. That is pretty good criteria for a playoff berth.

This is another reason I don't like Ur*an Mey*r, he will run up scores.
But as I've said before, I don't think this 4 team playoff was designed to solve problems, I think it was designed to create them and eventually get rid of the Bowl System with a larger playoff system.
I believe their goal is to bring terms like "Sweet 16" and "Final Four" to college football. And it ticks me off.

Yeah, he put up 59 on Wisconsin and Andersen is his buddy. Hate to see what he would do if he didn't like you.

Congrove has his bowl payouts wrong...those are from the BCS era.

FSU gets $6 million for being in the playoff...the Rose pays nothing this year...it is a play off bowl.
The Rose is a "contract" bowl like the Orange and Sugar. In years that the Rose is not in the playoffs, they pay the Big Ten and the Pac 12 $40 million a piece

For example,,,This year the Orange is not a play off bowl and they pay out $27.5 million...next year they do not pay anything because they will be a playoff bowl,,,The CFP pays out $6 million.

This argument has been made on this board for years. Not all agree, but it is somewhat refreshing to here someone that is first hand involved express this opinion.

Re: Final Four per Mr. Congrove
Ridiculous bleeting from a coach of a team that could not compete and doesn't have the same quality of team. Has there been a national champion that is not now a team in the P5? If you discount the aberration that was BYU 30 years ago (they didn't play a top team), it was Yale in 1927.
You know what? I want to compete with my Jeep in the NASCAR 250.
Sure, I have no chance of winning, but those bustards will only race each other in the high power cars....Won't let me at least have a shot at it.
