VT scored a combined 13 points against Clemson, a 10-3 team that lost to NC State and has a phrase associated with failing. Such and such team has "pulled a Clemson". You ever heard that?
The BCS is not about who should have gotten in. Which teams can bring the most fans and money is what drives the invites.
I was as shocked as anyone when the Hokies got the Sugar Bowl.
That's fine, I am not:
A. Saying Arkansas is not a good team
B. Saying that Virginia Tech / Michigan is better.
C. Saying that Virginia Tech / Michigan is more deserving.
I just said, comparing the two schedules, Michigan and Virginia Tech could have each gone 10-2 on Arkansas' schedule if they could handle South Carolina and avoid getting upset. It's easier said than done, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Could Arkansas drop two between Notre Dame, Michigan State, Nebraska, or Iowa? Possibly although I'd bet against it. Could Arkansas drop two between Clemson twice, Georgia Tech, Miami, and North Carolina? Possibly, although I'd bet against it.
I would rather see Arkansas for the record. All I'm saying is that I don't know if it would be a cut-and-dried slam dunk that Arkansas' resume is overwhelmingly better than Michigan's.
